Bjøro Håland (born October 6, 1943 in Håland in Audnedal) is a Norwegian song artist, best known from the country genre.
Håland was born on a small farm called Håland, and grew up with five siblings. His stage debut was when he was five years old. When he turned 17, he emigrated to the United States. There he worked as a carpenter and sang in bars. He met his wife Liv in Brooklyn, and they moved back to Norway in 1966. [needs reference]
His first recordings were in 1970. In total he has released 23 albums sold in four million copies. Liv and Bjøro Håland are the initiators of the Dark Season music festival in Kristiansand.
In 2012, Håland was named Knight of the First Class by the Royal Norwegian Merit Order "for his work in promoting the interpersonal relations between Norway and the United States, especially in music."
