Lindesnes is the oldest lighthouse located almost entirely on the southern tip of Lindesnes Peninsula Lindesnes. 27. February 1656 became the first lighthouse lit here. It was extinguished early 1657, but it is estimated, however, that the lighthouse was founded in 1656. It was no coincidence that Lindesnes was the place where the first lighthouse in Norway, was lit. Ever since the Middle Ages, Lindesnes, or headland, which they called the place, been one of the most important landfall for sailing between North Sea and Baltic Sea.
